In his words:

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Jason McDonald.. I live in Sunnyvale CA.; just down the road from NASA. I have been involved in prototyping for almost 20 years. I currently build show cars for the national spotlight. With that comes a lot of adaptive experience on how to make things work. And working with many companies at once who all have a product they want showcased. With that said, here is why I am emailing you.

I have a design for a well head adapter that can be installed by the ROV’s at the ocean floor. It will extend the pipe that was broken and removed by BP. And is simply an adapter for the top kill 4 to be attached directly to the BOP. I have thought out every step of the procedure and know that it is feasible.

The first concern is to at least contain all of the oil and natural gasses coming from the well. I HAVE THE DESIGN FOR WHAT IS NEEDED. I need the well head flange plate mill spec's for the riser pipe coming out of the ocean floor so I can start machining the parts. We have over 200 aerospace machine shops in the area. I can have all the components made within a matter of hours.

Containment of the crude;

not only on the surface, but under the water as well. We have learned form out history books that the PT boats were a major asset to winning the war of WWII. The best defense the United States had was the PT boats. Keeping with that idea of fast and agile; I have contacted ALUMIWELD boats and have started the design of a 30 ft emergency bare bones recovery boat with one intent in mind. A strategic attack to carry an oil recovery tank that can be removed once it is full and replaced with an empty one to get the boat back to work faster currently there is almost 1000 24 ft boats sitting at dealers that can be retrofitted for use. It will require 2 people per vessel and the base designs of the boat are already coastguard approved. On the bow of the 24ft or 30ft recovery vessel is a sea pump for collection of oil/water. . A hydraulic power unit instead of an electric motor can be installed so it can be used in a HAZMAT environment. Every boat that would be made will become part of a national mobile infrastructure to protect our waterways from disasters such as what is happening in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Any City, County or State with a body of water could use it to clean and contain their own waters and in the time of emergency, as in this current Gulf of Mexico oil spill, as well as disasters like Hurricane Katrina. All vessels could be deployed to a single location within 2 days. Therefore, becoming a National Infrastructure for contaminated waters. These vessels will in essence be self containment units for small scale clean up but as a unit will be able to cover hundreds if not thousands of miles of shoreline as a unit. And the power ratings of the vessels are enough to pull their own webbing to contain the smaller areas affected.

On to the containment webbing.

There are a lot of great products out there that would help in small scale; but in a large scale like is needed in the gulf, there is one thing that stands out the most to me most; PEAT MOSS. In its initial use is a wonderful theory. IMPLEMENTATION IS KEY. Using the peat moss as a filter barrier sewn into containment blankets. When I say blankets; I mean just that, 8 ft wide, 100 ft long and an inch thick. These can be laid flat on the water to soak up surface oil; or by using floats and weight. Stand it vertically in the water to use as a barrier; either stationary or used on the back of the vessels described above. The reason for using peat moss is that it will adsorb 15 times the weight in carbons, so in doing the math, a 100 lb peat blanket will absorb 1500 lbs of oil. so in essence, 300 gallons of oil with each blanket, that will not leak. It is biodegradable and can be burnt. I have done preliminary testing testing to see if the peat can be pressure squeezed between rollers to be able to reuse the blankets. IT CAN . Then we can recover the substance into a collection tank and redeploy the blankets. and i have designed the machine to to squeeze it.

Loose Peat moss particles can be dispersed onto the shoreline where it can be distributed on the sand and worked with a harrow just like the farmers do in the Midwest. Thus containing the oil from the beaches. And all of the dust can be dropped on the oil skim where it will absorb the oil and then we as Americans can safely remove the peat without the carcinogens causing harm to the workers. Working with tidal flows to get as much contaminated product away from shore and out of the tidal marshes.

I have several more designs on the drawing board on how to use the peat in other ways that are all in the implementation aspect of the product and the designs for the equipment to retrieve it And as a commodity the peat moss is readily available. I truly know that peat moss is not the only product. It is the best option for the front line. Every Home Depot and Lowes in the country has pallets of it for use in home gardens.

Everyone is trying to get the oil out of the water. With the procedures I have we can worry about taking the water out of the oil on a large scale. Collecting it is as easy as a sea pump into a large floatable container. Then we rely on nature to do most of the separation.. pulling the water off the bottom in one direction and the oil from the top in another. With peat blankets between to use as a filter. I know the design of the equipment.. I know the scale of the pumps. We can use every fishing boat to hold the front line and well for no simpler term.. channel the oil just like ranchers herd cattle. We are just herding oil.

I truly hope you take the time to read this. I do not want anything from anyone; no monetary compensation; or notoriety. I just want our country to be here for when my children grow up, so they can see all the marvels we as a great nation have to offer. I am not coming to you with an idea. I am coming to you with a strategic PLAN

If you would like to discuss this further. I can be reached at 1-(408)-600-9061.24 hours a day Please take advantage of what I am offering.

Kind regards,
Jason McDonald
